How do dental placement platforms work?
Posting and filling a shift is simple on Southern Ontario Dental Temps. A dental practice posts a shift with the date, time, role needed, and pay rate — this takes just a few minutes. Dental professionals on the platform are notified and can apply directly. The practice reviews applicants, selects the best fit, and confirms the booking. From the professional’s side, they browse available shifts, apply to the ones that work for them, and once selected they show up and get the job done. After the shift is completed, payment is processed through the platform. No phone calls, no middlemen — just a direct connection between practices and the professionals they need.
Are there dental temp agencies near me?
While we are a technology platform and not a traditional temp agency, Southern Ontario Dental Temps connects practices and professionals across all of Ontario — so wherever you are in the province, we have you covered. We are actively expanding and hope to serve dental professionals and practices across all of Canada soon. Whether you are in Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, London, or a smaller community, you can post or find shifts right from our platform without being tied to a local agency.
How quickly will my account be approved?
Most accounts are reviewed and approved within one business day. In some cases our team may need to follow up to verify your credentials or clarify some details on your profile, which can add a little time. To speed things up, make sure your profile is complete and your credentials are uploaded when you register. If you have not heard back after one business day, feel free to reach out to our support team.
Is it really free to join?
Yes completely. There are no setup fees, no monthly subscriptions, and no fees to post shifts. For dental professionals, SODT is free forever. For practices, you only pay a placement fee when a shift is successfully completed or a permanent position is posted.
Do dental professionals pay anything?
Never. Dental professionals always receive their full agreed wages. We do not take a percentage of professional earnings under any circumstances. The rate you agree to when applying is the full amount you receive.
What is the placement fee?
The placement fee is charged to practices only when a shift is completed. It covers the cost of sourcing, vetting, scheduling, and paying your dental professional. Full placement fee details are available in the Terms & Pricing tab inside your account once you register.
Are there any monthly fees or subscriptions?
No. SODT has no monthly fees, no annual fees, and no subscription tiers. You only ever pay when we successfully place a professional in your practice.
What if a shift does not get filled?
You pay nothing. We only charge when a shift is completed. If a shift goes unfilled for any reason, there is no cost to you.
How long until dental professionals are paid after a shift?
Dental professionals are paid within 48 hours of generating their invoice after their shift is completed.
How do practices pay their invoices?
All invoices are paid directly through the webapp via e-transfer, credit card, or pre-authorized debit. SODT then sends the funds to the dental professional.
How do taxes work as a dental temp?
As a dental professional working temporary shifts, you are typically considered an independent contractor, which means taxes are not automatically deducted from your earnings. It is your responsibility to track your income and remit your own taxes to the CRA. This includes setting aside a portion of each payment for income tax as well as CPP contributions. The upside is that as an independent contractor you may be able to deduct eligible business expenses. To make this easier, Southern Ontario Dental Temps has a built-in tax tool on the platform that helps you track your earnings and estimate what to set aside — so there are no surprises at tax time.
